There are a minimal variety of commercially sensible diamond mines currently running around the world, with the 50 largest mines making up about 90 % of global supply. Diamonds are also mined alluvially over disperse locations, where rubies have been eroded from the ground, deposited, as well as focused by water or climate action. There is also at least one instance of a heritage ruby mine (Crater of Diamonds State Park).
